Descriptive Text

Welcome back to my blogger. After a long time I haven't uploaded any more material, and this time I will discuss descriptive text in more depth. come on !!

Description text has two structures.

1. Identification (Introduction/classification), is an  introduction, in the form of a general description of a topic.

2. Description (characteristic features), is to contain the special characteristics of the object, place or person being specifically described.

Apart from the structure, in creating descriptive text you need to know the language components are used

1. Specific participant: it can be something which is not common and usually unique because it is the only one in the world.

2. Adjective: They can be adjectives, adjective phrases, or land adjective clauses.

3. Simple present tense: is used in sentences that express activities or facts that happen in the present. This tense uses only one verb.

4. Action verbs: use verbs that indicate an activity or an activity that can be seen. For example, sleep, walk, sing, dance, etc.

5. Figurative language: usually using a metaphor to provide an illustration to the reader.

And you need to know, there is a general command for adding adjectives in description text. called OSASCOMP

After knowing OSACOMP from the picture above, I will give a simple example

• Budi is my friend

Budi has been my friend since we were kids. Budi is taller than me. He has blonde hair and a sharp nose. His favorite food is a hamburger with fries and soda. His favorite color is blue.

Sentences in descriptive text also have a structure (Subject + Verb + Object + Adverb). In Indonesian we call it SPOK. I will give a simple example:

• The thing that my friend likes is Budi

Descriptive text also includes the five senses

1. Sight

2. Smell

3. Hearing

4. Taste

5. Touch

Example of a descriptive text about place

--------------------My Lovely Sister--------------------

    I have a smart older sister. Her name is Lisa. She is a beautiful intelligent small young woman. She works in a large Italy publishing company as a senior editor.

    She recently married a handsome tall young man. She wore a beautiful white pearly wedding dress. Daniel, her husband, is a successful Indonesian architect. He wears fancy clothes and watches. He is a smart rich young man but he is a humble and caring person. He calls my sister his brilliant lovely little girl although she is already 26 years old.

    They live in a big modern white, blue and grey house. At their home, there is a beautiful square wooden table in the dining room. They live happily together and they always love and respect each other. I am so proud of my lovely sister. I love her and her husband very much.
